My passion is Kundalini Yoga, and I believe in raising consciousness. My pastime is playing with technology, and I play in the City for tokens we call money. I teach the Art & Science of Being Human.
CityguyYoga in 60 seconds
I’m an irresponsibly playful childish parent with a love for tech, yoga and paradoxes.
What is cityguyyoga?
The term ‘@cityguyoga’ was coined as an internal joke when I worked for the London Stock Exchange, when some of my team found out I was teaching Yoga in Finsbury Square in London. There was this image of a white clad yogi driving to class in a red lamborghini. I liked the name and adopted it. The rest, as we say is history.
Do I own a Lamborghini?
No, I think that cars in general are a terrible investment. If you want a Super-car, go hire one for the weekend. Keep the rush fresh. I have a bicycle and an oyster card and I like walking.
Who am I?
I hope that when you leave here, you will not define me by putting me in a box of your making. I have worked in the technology area for well over a decade, and would be considered a semi-pro FX trader. I was educated to be a scientist, an academic, a university lecturer and an entrepreneur. I love gadgets and systems. I’ve designed and developed hardware and software real-time systems for astronomical data logging, atmospherical data collection & fx trading systems. I’ve hacked linux kernels. I’ve done web stuff since you could list the total number of web servers in the planet on the back of an envelope. I’ve designed and architected DirectX 3D distributed environments for education. I’ve published several academic papers, and contributed to several published books. The most complex system I have every studied is the human mind, I have trained as an Instructor of Kundalini Yoga, certified trainer of NLP, Instructor of Hypnosis, trainer of Time Line Therapy, a practitioner of EFT, Pranic Healing, and Kundalini Yoga Therapy. And although I know very little, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
What do we seek ?
I believe we are only one choice away from a better life, and I believe the world within is a consciously limited version of the world without, therefore the world without is what we make it. Literally. I believe people don’t want success, or fortune, they don’t want the best looking woman or the richest man, they don’t want a yacht or a string of pearls. What people really want is to wake up in the morning with a quiet mind, with no worries, and to look out the window at a blue sky and say “Wow, the sun is up, what a beautiful day”. All the possessions and desires and wants and needs we seek in life are symbols that we believe might…. just…. give this to us…but they don’t.
What do I aim to achieve with this blog?
To raise consciousness. I believe if you can’t make the internal mind still, eventually the external world will be a reflection of your internal chaos. This is why people want to be accepted, to have friends, to be acknowledged, to be wanted, to be needed. This is why they work so hard, so that one day, before they die, they can say, “Yes, I’ve done it, I can stop now”. The fact is that we can’t, because the mind is always programmed to want more and more. I believe the world would be a better place without money. but we are too primitive to event consider the concept of a world without possessions, and ownership, and so we consume, accumulate, complete, win, lose and die, in an endless circle of Karma, until we get the Big Joke, and finally wake up.
I believe the world is changing, and I believe that you are still reading this because you believe this too, but you are probably too scared to do anything about it. Because you are a leader inside, but you don’t dare admit it to yourself. So you look for someone else to lead the way. I believe that we have one inherent quality that can give us to ability to lead a better life. It’s called compassion. If you don’t know or don’t need compassion then you are not human, you are an ugly, perverted egomaniac, driven by power & greed, and you will destroy the planet and yourself before you are done. I believe you can’t believe this because you already know the answers, and you think you can buy you way out of trouble.
How can I contribute?
Through social networking and Being Human. I believe that Raising Consciousness does not involve laws, rules, religion, cults, creeds, or initiation. I believe that raising consciousness is something that naturally happens when one comes from a place of compassion, and that there is only one step between this and being an animal. That’s the belief that we are not alone. The fact that we work together better in a social group, like the bees of a swarm working as one, we can work as one to raise consciousness and build a better world. I believe that you are part of this, and all you have to do is to raise your hand.
Are you in ?

Crazy! You and I have more than yoga in common. NLP, for instance. Great to know another who is fusing the two.
I love the feel of your blog/site.
peace,

I don’t know how I got here, but someone combining kundalini yoga and technology is thinking along the same lines…I’m a new Tibetan Buddhist into Kundalini yoga and technology and psychology. the thing that seems unusual is the Kundalini Yoga. I don’t practice enough right now but I know it is the right kind of movement.

I wake and wonder what it means.
It’s got to be something, it’s not just a dream?
It bites, it cruises all my scenes.
When I wake, from slumber, so it seems.
You are like a fantastic firework, and I love the colours you paint in the sky. To reach the same levels of fundamental integration and oneness with the Universe would be something outrageous for me in this lifetime.. But I love fireworks
‘Specially the ones that come from the West and light up the sky in the South.
Could you cope with a box of empty sand on 23rd May? I think there may be another commitment keeping me away, but I guess your plan is to lift the corner of the conscious mind in many iterations?

I am very glad to have ‘cyber-bumped into you’ at a #writechat. (Paradisekitten) I’m on the raising consciousness boat. I think of myself as a, new-age Catholic. Although if truth be known, the true heart and soul of the Catholic church has always been it’s mystics. I find Spirit everywhere and in everyone and my ora a labora, (work & prayer) is to listen and learn to choose wisely in what I do and say – to learn to align myself with Love. There are a lot of different boats out there but I think we are all floating on the same water and all moving in the same direction.
Blessings,
Robin

I really love your boldness in the last two sentences on the paragraph of 2012 & the Aquarian Age. Extreme honesty with ourselves, with the world, with our universe is the only way to heal life force energy, the current that keeps us alive as a whole. As far as the ugly barnacles who have no thought beyond their greedy loathsome natures killing off everything…let us hope that raising consciousness will add more positive energy that will eliminate their negative energy, like the plus minus balance in an equation, the stronger force overtakes and absorbs the lesser energy.
